  • January 3rd - Full Moon.

  • January 10th - Waning Quarter Moon.

  • January 18th - New Moon.

  • January 26 - First Quarter Moon.

  • January 6th to 8th - Open Beehive Week

  • January 10th - Special Jupiter Opposition

  • January 13-16 - Crab Nebula Week (M1)

  • January 17 - Spectroscopy Special

  • January 20th to 24th - Week of the 'Three Marys'

  • January 27-31 - Winter Triangle Week.
    Although it's possible to see Saturn at 8:30 PM, the best viewing time will be at 6:30 PM, and the later in the month it gets, the worse it will be for viewing in the sky.
    The opposite is true for Jupiter ; the best viewing time will be at 8:30 PM, and the later in the month, the better it will be to see in the sky.

  • The planets that will be in the sky during these sessions are Saturn and Neptune, Jupiter and Uranus.

  • Neptune and Uranus will only be visible through a telescope and on moonless nights, with Saturn's rating applying to Neptune and Jupiter's rating applying to Uranus.
