The Orionid meteor shower originates from one of the most famous comets in history, Comet 1P/Halley.

 

  • Time range: 2nd of October to 7th of November

  • Peak Intensity: 20 – 21 of October

  • Average speed: 27.7km/s

  • Moon Illumination: 83%

  • ZHR: 10-20 events/hour

  •  

Given the presence of the Moon in the sky during the days of greatest intensity, the best time to observe the fragments of Halley's Comet is on October 26th and 27th.
